A full guided tour will be given of the historical town of Alberobello to learn of its historical values and beginnings in the southern region of Italy. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of trulli and learn how these unique trulli were constructed. We will also visit a local dairy farm, an olive oil grove as well as a local winery for some local product tastings.

The historical town of Alberobello

The name Alberobello literally means beautiful tree because it was the area where the beautiful gigantic oaks were. A quirky historical town that is famous for its traditional white washed cone-shaped trulli.
In the summer, Alberobello hosts a number of traditional cultural festivals such as folk music and dance. In the center of the historical town is the Basilica, Trullo Sovrano, and the trullo church of St. Antony.

The UNESCO trulli

Trulli was first constructed in the 16th century to evade land tax. The agricultural farmers first invented it as a temporary shelter to avoid land tax and made it easy to dismantle and build it again.
The white-wash cone shaped unique trulli are built with limestone and can be seen dotted across the Apulia region. As part of the tour, your guide will explain how these UNESCO houses are build and their construction techniques.

Visit local farms and sample local products

After a historical tour around Alberobello, you will visit a local shop. Here you will witness how Apulia cheese products are made and at the end of the tour, you will be treated to some sample tastings.
And afterward, we will head onwards to a local olive grove shop for some typical Apulia's olive oil tastings. Lastly, we will visit a local winery shop to explore the different types of Apulia's wine and for some wine tastings.
